This talk explores the witness of Scripture and the Fathers of the early Church to the sacrament of Holy Orders. It is through this sacrament that the Catholic Church finds its visible contours. From whence do we derive the roles of bishops, priests, and deacons? Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Church is "incarnate" in a very real manner.

In this talk, we explore the relationship between the Scripture and Holy Tradition, which together constitute the Catholic Church's "deposit of faith". In relation to this deposit, the official teaching office the Church, the Magisterium, is also introduced as the means by which the Holy Spirit guides the Church "into all truth," assuring that the "gates of the netherworld shall not prevail" against the Bride of Christ, "the pillar and foundation of...

In this sermon, Dr. Thiel covers all the words that the New Testament records from Jesus that are in the books of Revelation, 1 Corinthians, and 2 Corinthians. Dr. Thiel explains the historical and prophetic significance of many of Jesus' statements. He discusses church eras, characteristics of those eras, and some prophetic ramifications. He also explains what the Bible says the "testimony of Jesus" is. With this sermon, Dr. Thiel has, in accordance with Matthew 28:19-20, completed...

One of a series of talks explaining the Catholic Church teachings found in The Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each talk should be labeled by paragraphs covered and at least one of the topics within those paragraphs. All talks given by a simple parish priest, not a theologian or supposed scholar, to a group of his parishioners. Official teachings, a bit of humor, examples for illustration and plenty of straight talk will make this a series you don't want to miss.

Jesus founded his Church as a communion of peace. This Church, this Body of Christ, is an organism. It is sacramental. It is at once humanly frail human and divinely eternal. The Church is a visibly organized thing comprised of every sort of human glory and failure. Yet she is also a mystical Body irreducible to mere scientific and sociological categories. Since the Church is a visible, tangible but sacramental thing, she is also ordered . That is, she has a structure— an apostolic ...
